    Wireless Issue with N routers?

So I built my desktop, installed the RC and was excited to start gaming on it, and everything worked perfectly while I was at home. I have a Rosewill RNX-EasyN1 and the router there was a Linksys WRT54GL. Now I am living with someone else and they have a WRT310N router, and my new setup can hardly load web pages. Speedtest has me at less than 1/12 of what every other computer hooked up to the wirless runs at for download, with upload at about 2/3 performance. The Rosewill USB works fine on my older computer running XP, so I'm left wondering what else could be the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

OK Im going to start with the really simple things that im sure you have done. Did you reset back to its default settings. did you reboot the cable modrm and the router. Did you turn off ( or configure) IP-6. Are all pcs on the same homegroup.

Could you tell us a little more abt the configuration.

    Thanks in advance

Ok, I had already checked everything you mentioned earlier except disabling IP6, and that made little/no change. I'm unsure exactly what information you would like to know about my configuration. I do know that the huge differences between this network and my old one are the use of Wireless-N and having a WPA2 security on this connection. If I remember right though, we tried it with security disabled and had no effect. For the record, I've disabled my firewall while testing too, so that should be a non-issue, and have reinstalled the drivers for the USB wireless as well.

Just let me know any other info you could use and I can either give it or ask the guy in charge of the network here for more info. Thanks again.

just for troubleshooting purposes, have you tried using a wire direct to the router to see if the performance issues are the same with that too?

Are the rest of the computers on the home network using N protocol? If not, the router may only be broadcasting only a b/g signal. If you configure it to broadcast a g/n signal it will increase your transmission rate and boost the signal some too.

If everyone is in N protocol, make sure the router is broadcasting N only also.
These have helped me in the past. However, everyones configurations are different.

Ok, so at the very slow speeds I managed to download the latest updates from MS, and lo and behold I'm up and running at about 1/3 to 1/2 of the full 3Mb speed for the connection (terrible, I know). In any case, this works well enough for me, so I'll settle. Thank you for your help guys, I appreciate it.
