network adapter disappeared

I would examine your power settings. My first guess would be that it's going away when you either plug your machine into power, or unplug it from power as a power saving feature.

Okay. Well, try the following, if you'd please.

> Start
> Right click on Computer
> Manage
> Device manager

At this point, you want to check two sections: Unknown Devices and Network Adapters. See if there are any unknown devices, or if it shows up under network adapters.

onboard NIC or slotted NIC?

Started with the on-board NIC and now both "Slotted and on-Board" are not recognized

Bios "GA 945PL-S3P" has been updated to the latest release and still no network adapter yet "on-board and slotted"

It seems no way out but to get a usb adapter but I hate to let it go without knowing the reason which caused this strange issue !!

I can tell the on-board NIC died or something, but to have the same issue with the slotted one !!! that's what makes me crazy I've tried 3 different slots and none of 'EM was recognized/detected

Diagnostic, is the only thing left to try !!

Yea I did and there was nothing as I've mentioned before
I tried BIOS Updating and no changes !!!

So the devices don't appear in the Device Manager?

aint detected at all

I believe that I've done everything from A:Z without any success

Windows : Fresh copy has been installed
Bios : Has been updated
Network adapters : reset has been successfully done
Diagnostic : no error has been found

Is there anything else I need to test !

it could be a bad driver, i've had trouble with pnp similarly based on drivers. for instance installing broadband portable modems, updating cd-rom/dvd-rom drivers; etc. try and roll back your driver, and get the latest firmware driver from the manufacturer, or use a windows driver.

Your machine is a laptop, correct? Was one of the wired cards you were trying a PCM/CIA card?

maybe it's a plug n play issue....seemed to have missed that bit about device manager.

it didn't even begin to occur to me until i was adjusting task scheduler, because it's been giving me some glitchieness, and while it isn't a long shot, i think this is the kind of trouble copmuter users don't expect to experience when they buy their pc.

in task scheduler there is a task scheduled, under bluetooth called uninstallbluetoothdevice. i don't know too much about host intrusion detection or r&d, but I do know that from a fibre optic or signal perspective, there is a certain amount of interaction and interference caused by signals of different bandwidth. you can probably infer that i was thinking you said your disc drive had uninstalled or wasn't appearing, when i happened to lookup the response and saw it was your network adapter. although depending on what all you're running in your little machine world and what kind of connectors you're using, their integrity; etc. i don't think it's far fetched.

i can't provide a largely technical answer, except to suggest the possibility that you have your signals mixed up, and task scheduler has responded to this, by first uninstalling your adapter, and whatever sequence would follow to make your adapter hidden i am less presumptive of, maybe turning off that task or disabling, might help prevent future trouble (depending how you came about the issue in the first place).

you can probably adjust the trouble in the registry hive under hkey local machine, but you'll want to research your trouble via a reliable engine first. i've also fixed similar disc drive trouble in the passed by messing around in the registry, and although it worked to no seeming trouble, from a computer user perspective it still makes me uneasy when i think about it because the registry is so cryptic.

as far as the answer regarding bluetooth, just something to think about I guess, when working with machines that rely on some form of signaling: lamprophony.
