click on the icon>click Open Network and Sharing center>on the left side of the window that will open click Change Adapter Settings>right click on local area network and select disable.

I would suggest not doing this (no offense), unless you always remember how to re-enable it, should you ever need the hardwired network.

Never assume people know how to re-enable it. I know it's easy and at the same place, but some people don't.

As for this issue, I had this issue on my laptop as well, but it just refreshes after a while, so I don't even give it a second thought.

i have a hp dv5000 laptop, the psu went short circuit and the battery drained down, i left this off for a few months before buying another psu. the issue is there is a red cross next to the singal meter and its reporting no network connection, i have tried various things like disable the hardware and uninstall and even as far as to replace the wifi card but still the red cross and no wifi, yes i have tried the wifi button lol, any help would be much appreciated.

Firstly, this should've gone in a new thread, referencing this one. That way you would don't've someone like me confused as to why 7F is notifying them of something, and now responding.

Secondly, I would recommend unplugging the laptop from power, remove the battery, and hold down the power button for a minute. After that, boot it up and see if that helped. I'd also propose getting someone else's machine to make sure it isn't an issue with your wireless network that cropped up in those few months, as opposed to your laptop.
