If i plug it back in, it becomes slow again. It does not matter if my bros PC is turned on or not. Just the presence of a 3rd lan wire complicates my connection. I have tried this 4-5 times.
So is it the router? I would say yes, but my brother has no such problem. He can access and view files normally. So it's a combination of Win 7 and my router that's creating the problem. Maybe you guys have an idea?
hey
Glad you may have found something.several possiblities. nic on your bro's, cable, etc.
have you tried mixing up the cables, then the ports on the router, etc.
That would help you narrow it down. sometimes a 10 meg nic on a 100 meg link will slow the entire segment down. Something wlse you can do (yeah i know the slowdown is on the lan) is to run a ping from yours, the xp, and your bros. they should be the same in the first 2 steps (mac, and router).
Sorry we haven't been more helpful but alot of times it takes someone to worry it to death like you.
I still jump back in anytime this thread gets a post
