Hey Bill,
Yep, try knocking the encryption level down. Screenshot attached.
BillDT2 is where you are trying to access shared folders from correct?
From BillDT2 Computer, locate Local disk C, right click on it, select Properties, Security tab, click Edit, click Add button and enter the name of the User you want to set Security permissions or choose 'Everyone' make sure to give a Full Permission.
Try accessing the C drive from another computer. Please see Post# 8 again for full instruction.
Yes BILLDT2 is the PC I want to access, ON this PC BILLDT1 I see BILLDT2 but when I click on it is when I get the error noted earlier.
On BILLDT2, I right-clicked the C: drive, selected Properties but there was no Security Tab only a Share Tab which showes BILLDT2 but will not allow me to add the \C to end of it. Remember BILLDT2 has XP Home with SP3. I did tell it to Share C Drive and a window popped up showing foldrs being moved from left to right.
Being a Newbie on here, am I replying to the Posts correctly? I'm clicking "Quote" in the Window where some one is providing instructions. Just want to do it right.
Thanks....BillG226
The instruction that I gave you was for Windows 7, I'm glad that you're able to figured it out.
When you Share the Drive all you need to do is type a letter cap 'C' with no \ symbol. You will put the symbol if you're trying to access the BILLDT2 shared drive from another computer.
Now, pls. verify that you have shared the C driver by right clicking on it and select the Share Tab again make sure that the name of the Shared Drive is C. Did you give a Full Permission to Everyone for now? Then try accessing \\BILLDT2\C from another computer in you network. Let's see if this time you're able to connect.
You're doing very well on replying. Thanks.Being a Newbie on here, am I replying to the Posts correctly? I'm clicking "Quote" in the Window where some one is providing instructions. Just want to do it right.
Thanks, it is a great tutorial, however I'd went past the 1st Window it shows & now don't know how to rename it from BILLDT2 to C. If only I saw this 1st.
Would a System Restore say back about a week undo the share of C so I can then start over?
Thanks for all your help to this PC Dummy, lol.
