My friend is running a website through some free host. Well, I want to do it for her on my own server. I have a old Gateway and Dell laying around so I want to do it on one of there. Anyone know of any good "guides for dummies". I also ran acrross this (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/23733-host-website-iis7-5-a.html?filter[2]=Networking%20Internet) and said that I would need to "register a DNS Host from here for free". So would I still need to do this?

Depending on your ISP, hosting a website is prohibited and sometimes blocked.
It will also cost you money each month for electricity since that computer will have to be running 24/7.
@SmurofNeves Thanks for the link, but I kinda wanted to build the website on my own from my own server. I am trying to learn all about networking and websites and stuff... at least that was until I found out that my internet provider my look down upon it. I still need to call and make sure though.
@Zepher I read that previously and I think I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.
@pparks1 I didn't consider the fact it my limit my upload speed. Thanks.
