Windows 7: Slow internet speeds during gaming

was wondering if anyone knew a fix for this i have slow net speeds and often disconnects have a clean install of 7100 rc I am directly connected to a new wireless morotola modem. i often get disconnected and also have to repair my connection upon restart saying no networks were found. I have done the start all programs accessories run as admin to no luck also my wife is running xp pro and has no speed frame rate or any other issues. any help would be appreciated
