Thanks for replies but still no joy, even tried running windows explorer as administrator but all i get back from the xp laptop is

"you do not have permission to access.....contact your network administrator to requst access"

I am the sole user on both computers, with auto access on bootup.

everything was fine till yesterday havnt a clue whats changed.

everthing in the laptop shows shared even run the shared folder wizard a few times and gone into properties in "my computer" and have the c drive shared.

at a lost, would be grateful for any further help please.

make sure your security permissions are also configured to allow access to your folders they are different than ur share permissions it will be under a tab called security right beside sharing
