Windows 7: Only 1 computer dislikes my router

Only 1 computer dislikes my router

Hey guys.

So over the past year at college I bought a router to use at the dorm: A Belkin router, model F7D6301. Upon coming home for the summer, I figured it was simply a matter of plugging in to the router at home (Netgear) and connecting. While my laptop took the change well, as I it's connected to the netgear hundreds of times, my desktop however, did not.

My first guess was that the belkin software was creating an issue keeping the desktop from connecting. I un-installed the belkin software, yet the issue persisted.

Upon plugging the router (netgear) in, the desktop, connected through ethernet, says "No network connection", followed by "No internet connection" after the router begins to warm up. After the router is warmed up, and other devices can connect to the internet, my desktop goes back to saying "no network connection". I've switched out ethernet cables, and tried all 4 ports on the router, with the same results.

I'm stumped, and don't have enough know-how about networks to go digging around in any advanced settings without asking how first. Any suggestions?

Are you using the Belkin router at home plugged into the Netgear or are you connecting directly to the Netgear router?

We're you using a fixed IP address at college?

Can you post the results of the following from both the laptop (working) and the dekstop (not working)?

Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as shown, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

If the Run box is not enabled, press Winkey+R to get to it.

I'm plugging directly into the netgear router. The belkin is unplugged and in a box with the rest of my dorm stuff.

These are the results from my laptop (Working)

Update: I had a static IP on the machine for DC++ at school. I went back to a dynamic IP, and it solved the issue. I'll look at the router's settings and see what the issue was.
