    Please Wait Error

    Hi,

We have a network of aprox 500 computers, and since putting windows seven on the computers and laptops, they intermittantly hang for up to an hour just saying "please wait". This error was supposed to be resolved with SP1 but it doesnt work. It must be one of the services holding as once it has timed out, the login box pops up and all works fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Just to help troubleshoot the issue a bit further, may i ask at what point does windows stall? bootup? login in to domain? or just at random points in time.. etc.

During bootup. This is the issue, as users cant log in for up to an hour when it times out then shows the login box. Even a reboot doesnt kick it in to life.

First thing that comes to mind is group policy, are you trying to rollout new software via this method? Also, if it is one of the services, run msconfig from the start menu, go to the startup tab and disable them all and see if that changes startup time.

We do use group policy, but not to roll out software at the moment. We use it to lock down startmenu's etc. Which services should I disable
