Vista to Seven home network lagging

    Hello all.

This is my home network configuration:

Desktop pc with Win 7 64Bit on wired connection to router.
Laptop with Win Vista 32Bit on wireless connection to router.
    Both computers can browse Internet.
Both computers are on same workgroup.
File network and sharing is on on both.
Password protection is off on both.
Laptop has only Administrator account enabled, desktop does not.
Dekstop has only a specific username account enabled.
Guest account is enabled from local group policies on both.
Files are shared from both to "Everyone" group on a read-only basis.
Security permissions have been set to "Everyone" group on both.
Same setting on Lan security authentication in Local security group policy for both.
Sharing wizard from folder options is currently off for both.

The problem appears when trying to access Desktop's files from Laptop and not the other way around.
For example when trying to play a video on Desktop screen from Laptop's shared folder everything is perfect! The file opens instantly and Video plays smooth.
However; when trying to do the same from Laptop for videos on the Desktop's shares it takes long to first open the file and playback stutters and stops every now and then. I am facing delay issues when browsing the Desktop's shared files from my Laptop in general as well as when trying to copy them over.

I have tried many things suggested on the internet with no virtual results. The latest proposition is to tweak Desktop's registry by adding the value LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy=1.
I have also read elsewhere that I need to have identical user accounts on both machines but at this time I do not know what to believe.

Any input on this could prove helpful.

    PS
My Laptop may be the culprit here since I have noticed that its wireless connection drops randomly some times but then I shouldn't be able to browe Laptop files or stream Laptop videos from my Desktop. I am really hoping this is only some Windows Seven setting...

By the way, this is what fixed it in my case:
