    How to share across networks

Hi all, this is a question I've had for ages.
I've some programs on my PC which my neighbour (running Win7 Home Premium x64) needs for his computer; please note, neither of us is a computer whiz, so I'm looking for a simple solution.
I wondered how to transfer that data without any external media like pen drives, external HDDs etc. HomeGroup is ruled out since we use different networks (or is it possible? If so, please elaborate!) Someone I know advised setting up an FTP server, and I don't know anything about that.
Bottom line: How do I set up an FTP server? Or if HomeGroup is better and more parctical, how do I set it up(again, we're not on the same network!)? Thanks!

hi thekb, and welcome to sevenforums,

rather than try to set up an ftp server, i think it would be easier to use an online file-sharing service, such as windows live skydrive.

    here are some more instructions

there are limitations though - you've got 25GB in total, and maximum individual file size is 50MB, and you need a (freely available) windows live ID.

if that doesn't suit your purposes, you could try another online storage service such as adrive, which gives you 50GB, with no filesize limit. i've never used it, so don't know what it's like. the basic plan is free.

simply put, you upload the files, then you get a link for where those files are, you then email that link to your friend, and he can then download them at his leisure.
