Windows 7 DNLA issue after standby

Hi all,

I have a Dell Vostro 430 PC running Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit. I have media shared on the PC that I can play back via the DLNA player functionality of my TV and also my blu-ray DMP player.

In general my issue is interupted play back (using either the TV or the DMP) due to the DLNA server connection dropping. This is most apparent playing audio tracks (mp3). The interuption typically occurs moving from the end of one track to the next. The track playing ends but the lost DLNA connection prevents playback of the next.

I have spent many many hours now trying to eliminate all sorts from the AV kit itself to my network, upnp and my PC etc.

Today having proved that everything can work together as expected without any playback issues by using my W7 netbook as the media source (just for a test), I moved my attention to my Dell desktop again.

What seems to be the case is that if the W7 desktop has had a fresh boot, the DLNA playback is just fine (a 19 track folder of mp3's is no problem). However if the PC has entered standby and woken up again between booting and when the DLNA player is used, I will get a loss of DLNA server connection on the player after3 or 4 tracks or so.

My desktop PC needs to be where my media is shared and due to it being on a lot (but not 24/7) I need it to go in and out of standby without upsetting my playback when it is awake.

Any ideas anyone?

Work Around

While I still don't know the root cause of my problem, I have found that after waking up from sleep, if I restart the 'Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service' that my problem does not occur.

I have not noticed any detrimental impact to doing this, so to make this seamless to operation, I have configured scheduled tasks (two at the moment but I am sure one could do it) that run when the computer wakes from sleep and stop and then start the service.

This seems to work for me just fine.

The details of the event the scheduled task is configured for are:
