Default Gateway is Not available issues

this has been happening more and more lately where after an Hour or so goes by I lose my internet connection and have to repair it.

Today, I cant seem to stay connected more than 10 or so minutes before it does it. I've been all over google and cant seem to find ANYTHING to help me as it's all ancient information and most of it hasn't been solved.

I'm on Win7 Home Premium 64-bit, The network adaptor is A Realtek PCIe Family Controller and is up to date with the drivers off the Realtek website(i've also completely removed and did a fresh install.). My Router is a WRT54G and its firmware is up to date as of a few hours ago. I don't have NVidia. I've disabled both Bonjour and IPv6 and neither did anything. It still disconnects me regardless.

I don't know how to get it to stop.

The WRT54G has been around for a long time. Maybe yours is getting old? Do you have access to another you could try just to see if that is the problem?

I do not. What I'm going to try atm is to see if maybe its possibly the cord that connects to the router itself. I've had it longer than we've had that particular router so maybe it's starting to show its age.

None of the other Windows 7 computers in our house have any problems with the internet, but then again, they're connecting via wireless.

Some other ideas, from least to most painful:

1. Uninstall the Realtek PCI/E NIC in Device Manager, reboot and let Windows 7 reload the driver for it.
2. Downgrade the NIC driver to an older level.
3. Replace the Realtek PCI/E NIC.
4. Do a Repair Install of Windows 7.
