Ping does not go through Ping does not go through to one of the Windows 7 machines on my home network but there is no problem accessing from other Windows 7 machine to this machine for file sharing.
Please help me determine what is causing the above. | My System Specs |

Best Regards,
FredeGail This is Ping operation among PCs on the same home network.
My new finding since my original post: Ping does not go through to this particular Windows 7 machine from ANY other Windows 7 machine on the home network. My statement in my original post being that there is no file sharing problem is still true. | My System Specs | | OS W7 Ult x64 CPU Phenom II x4 970 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 Memory 16GB DDR3 1333 G.Skill F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL x2 Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD5770 Sound Card Asus Xonar DS Monitor(s) Displays 24' x2, Gateway FPD2485W, Dell UltraSharp U2410 Screen Resolution 1920x1200 PSU Corsair VX450W 450W Case Cooler Master STORM Scout Model: SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Cooling Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Hard Drives Hitachi 1TB/7200rpm HDE721010SLA330

My initial thought would be to compare the firewall settings. What message do you get when you attempt a ping? | My System Specs | | OS Windows XP Pro x86, Windows Vista Home Premium x86, Windows 7 Pro x64, Win2k3, Win2k8, Ubuntu CPU Intel Xeon 5160 3GHz (Dual-Core) Memory 8GB PC2-5300 Hard Drives OCZ-Agility 2 - 80GB |

The message is "timeout". The entire message inccludes more than that but that's what happens. | My System Specs | | OS W7 Ult x64 CPU Phenom II x4 970 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 Memory 16GB DDR3 1333 G.Skill F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL x2 Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD5770 Sound Card Asus Xonar DS Monitor(s) Displays 24' x2, Gateway FPD2485W, Dell UltraSharp U2410 Screen Resolution 1920x1200 PSU Corsair VX450W 450W Case Cooler Master STORM Scout Model: SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Cooling Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Hard Drives Hitachi 1TB/7200rpm HDE721010SLA330

My apology for all those responded to this thread. Ping did not go through because I entered a wrong IP. A static IP used to be assigned to the machine in question but for some reason IP had been changed to dynamic one which I did not aware of.
I wonder how this thread can be deleted. | My System Specs | | OS W7 Ult x64 CPU Phenom II x4 970 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 Memory 16GB DDR3 1333 G.Skill F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL x2 Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD5770 Sound Card Asus Xonar DS Monitor(s) Displays 24' x2, Gateway FPD2485W, Dell UltraSharp U2410 Screen Resolution 1920x1200 PSU Corsair VX450W 450W Case Cooler Master STORM Scout Model: SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Cooling Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Hard Drives Hitachi 1TB/7200rpm HDE721010SLA330

no need to delete the thread... That, by definition, is still a fix for other people.
