LAN Unidentified Network

Hey all,

I've read more people have this issue, but none of the solutions given seem to work for my problem. I've been running on Windows 7 for a month or so now, without any problems. Yesterday a SP1 update was performed in the afternoon and still, no problems. Around 10pm I put it into sleep and when I returned about 5hours later and started it up again, the problem occured and has remained so.

Few things to note, I have a router connected to another router, which is connected to the internet. The router closest to the modem gives me perfect wireless internet. The second router also connects a LAN cable to my playstation 3, which also works perfectly so the problem lies with my laptop (I even connected it directly to the modem, but still the unidentified network problem).

I've tried to: Reset modem, routers and laptop. I've run the microsoft Fixit, which didn't fix anything. I've downloaded and installed the most update drivers of my ethernet. I've performed a system restore to around the time of the update.

Nothing seems to work, resulting in my laptop not being able to connect to ANY LAN cable/network whatsover. Wireless works fine, but that just won't cut it for me.

Anyone know any good fix for this problem?

Don't know if it makes a difference, but I captured this while my wireless network was on.

As for your other question, I shut down the laptop after it hadn't worked and rebooted it about two times after that.

Pinging that adress with wireless off resulted in 4 times request timed out, 4 packets send, 4 packets lost.

As for the setting up of the two routers, that setup has been the same for over 4 years, with the only change being in my software, updating Windows 7 to SP1 or something. Besides, the ps3 that is connected the exact same way as my laptop works fine.
On top of that, a direct linked connection the my modem results in the same problem, unidentified network, no network access.

I already performed those suggested solutions. I downloaded the latest version on the intel website and installed it. I tried disabling and enabling it and also uninstalled it and let windows reinstall it. All of those things didn't seem to fix the problem.

Hmm, I just went to a friend and plugged my laptop into his LAN and it immediately worked.

Maybe I forgot to reset my modem when I connected my laptop directly. At least it shows that the problem is not on my laptop but apparently inside my network at home, though it's strange it suddenly changed.

I'm not at home during the weekend so I'll test some stuff on monday, including your solution of entering the gateway manually.
