Wireless not connecting to internet ):

    Hi guys,

I built a new computer last August. Everything worked except my wireless. Move on to today, and still, the only issue I've ever had is with my wireless. Cabled internet works fine. Wireless does not. I've even upgraded my motherboard in this timeframe too.

    Current specs are:

    Mobo: Asus Crosshair IV Formula
    GPU: HD 5870
    CPU: Phenom II X6 1055T
    RAM: 4GB of Ripjaw somethingblah

I've tried one internal N network card, and 2-3 sticks. The current one I'm trying is a TP-Link TL-WN81N 300Mpbs N Network adapter. I've used two different routers. My PS3 & iPhone connect fine. My Xbox 360 and PSP both struggle, sometimes connecting but usually not.

Wireless on this computer, the issue, connects to the network fine. But it won't enable a internet connection, I never get wireless internet. Every now and then it'll work fine like nothing is wrong and other times it'll be super slow but literally 99.5% of the time it will be connected but with no internet.

If anyone has ANY advice that'd be great. I've been wanting wireless back for almost a year now, sigh.

    Cheers,

    Simon

Madrical, Welcome to SF. Please give us the name and model of the wireless router you are using and have you triple checked that it's connections are properly made.....I take that they are as likely you are connected currently to it via a cat 5-6 cable?

    Thanks for the welcome. :)

First router I think was a Belkin Wireless N router, current one is a Draytek VIGOR2820. Tivo connects fine too.

    EDIT:

And yep, connected cat 5 I think.

Well I'll tell you this the 24/7 support with Belkin is top flight off the hook good. I can't speak for Draytek. Have you called Draytek for assistance? If they aren't helpful then try the Belkin again and call them, I only can rave with their support time as long as you have patience for the politeness of the country their in and from if you catch my drift!

I didn't think it'd be a router issue since most other things connect to it, and I've tried two different ones. But I'll see if I can get into contact with Draytek.

Welp I've e-mailed DrayTek with no response. *sigh*

Still don't think it's the router though, any advice?

So can you connect to the wireless network and access the LAN, but you don't get Internet access via wireless? Or can you not connect to the wireless connection at all?

I can connect to the wireless connection, but I can't do anything with it. No internet, no actual "communication", ie. I can't access other computers or shared folders etc.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy/lazy.
