LAN to WLAN won't connect to wireless

I've got a handful of Dell laptops that recently stopped reconnecting to a wireless network after being on the lan. WLAN shows connected, but can't reconnect until we do a IP refresh. Some machines are running Dell WLAN cards and another is running Intel card.

Can't seem to nail down the problem. One user mentioned she was having this problem after MS updates so wondering if a patch/hot fix is jacking up these machines. To add salt to the wound, I brought my Dell Inpiron 1420 home today...plugged in the network cable..did some work, then decided to move to the couch. Same problem here on my machine.

Any ideas...this is a wacky one.

Thanks

Have you got DHCP setup on your router? If so, do you have enough addresses available? Also, you could try rebooting your router.

DHCP enabled on router. Plenty of IP's. When I do a IP refresh all works. This is happening at multiple locations. Brought one of the laptops from the customer site home and it is doing the same thing.

Try re-setting your router to factory defaults and setting it up again sometimes things can go a little screwy and it looks like you DHCP has got itself in a muddle.

You could try borrowing / getting a different router as this sounds like a router problem as it is happening with more than one computer

It's happening in multiple locations with different access points. I think it's a Windows 7 issue.

I can't say that I have ever bumped into the issue since I installed windows 7 and I regularly go between Lan and WLAN. Asking a question that I probably know the answer to already, You did install from a genuine windows 7 media? If so, then you could try running up your system and doing a "repair install" Instructions for this can be found here:- Repair Install if you need them.
