    ad hoc "no internet access"

    Hi
i'm trying to connect 2 laptops via ad hoc so that i could share the internet
the server computer is a xp sp 2, the client is the default 7 starter of my laptop.
the ad hoc seems to be fine, and i can share files between them, but win 7 can not access the internet and says "no internet access"
    can any one help?
    thanks

You have to choose "Share this internet connection" on the server computer. Right-click on the network connection that is connected to the internet, choose properties then click on the advanced tab at the top. There is a section that says "Internet connection sharing". Check the box that says, "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection". This should be all you have to do.

    i have already done that.
i have set my internet connection on the server(xp) to share its connection with the wireless connection, and i have created a adhoc connection using the wireless network connection \wireless networks\add
both ips are in the same range, the workgroups are the same, i dont know whats wrong!

How to configure Internet Connection Sharing in Windows XP
Well it sounds like you did everything correctly, check out this guide just to be sure. Did you set up a new network connection on the Windows 7 machine? The link is for XP, but the same step apply to Windows 7, a few things might just be named differently.

according to the manual every thing should be ok
on the seven computer ip selecting is on automatic (i also tried it manually but no change)
on the seven machine i just selected the ad hoc connection from the available wireless connections. do i have to do anything else?
as i said, the computers ping eachother, and can share files so the ad hoc seems to be working fine-except for the internet

Well the guide says that you have to set up a new internet connection, and after you do that the client computer will connect through the host's internet connection. So you may have to do that.

i tried it, though, im not sure if i did it right:
first i disconnected from my ad hoc
then i went to network and sharing center\set up a new connection or network\ manually conncet to a wireless network and entered the name and key. it created a new network in manage wireless networks but it doesnt connect to the server this way. but i can still connect to the ad hoc using the old method of choosing from the availabe connections
