    Cannot join domain

On an HP Windows 7 64-bit machine I get the error message "An Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for the domain "ad.mackaysstores.co.uk" could not be contacted."
This machine is set up the same as all the others on the network and has worked before so I don't know what's changed?

Can you ping the domain controller's ip address?

    Hello,

Please remove the computer in your Domain, change it to Workgroup, then try rejoining it to your Domain.

Make sure that the ipconfig /all output of this computer is pointing to your Windows Server that has DNS configured and using the Server's Private IP.

Yes, there are a lot of things that could be wrong. Are you certain the DC is up and running? Do you have proper IP configuration? Do you have DNS connectivity? (obviously if that's your DC also, then no).

Check if you can ping anything on your network--another computer, another known IP address, the default gateway, etc. Also, check your network cable--you would be surprised how often that's the problem...

Is it possible to post the ipconfig /all of the PC and the Server?

If not, make sure that they are both using the same DNS, it doesn't matter if your setup is Static or DHCP.
