Poor Attempt at Fixing Window 7's Notorious Gaming Lag-Spike

Hey guys,

Here's my system information:

Manufacturer: eMachines
Model: ET1331
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 215 Processor 2.70 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (3.75 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit Operating System

I had recently viewed a Youtube video that suggested manually updating Windows 7's Wireless LAN Driver with Windows XP's can fix lag-spikes.

Here's the video: ‪Windows 7 - Fixing Wireless Gaming Issues and Updating Device Drivers‬‏ - YouTube

Many viewers have retorted that the method actually works. So, I decided to give it a shot. Long story short, I'm able to download Windows XP 64-bit's RTL8187B Wireless LAN Driver, and manually update it on my PC successfully. However, immediately after the update is completed, I lose internet access; the router still performs exceptionally well, and I can view and even attempt to connect to my network, but to no avail. Can someone tell me why am I unable to connect to the internet after updating my network adapter and how to fix it?

Thanks!

EDIT: I encounter lag-spikes only when gaming.

Poor computer conditions = poor gaming performance?
First off, I didn't know whether to post this in gaming or hardware. Sorry. My question: If there is dust on the videocard and fans or other poor condtions in my computer, can it affect performance in gaming? FPS wise? Thanks, Andrew.

Poor Gaming Performance
Okay I'm a little vexed as I've felt for a long time now that my PC is under performing for what it is (see my specs below), when it comes to gaming. Basically could anybody tell me if the attached results for the Metro 2033 frontline benchmark test match with what you'd expect for a system like...

Poor Gaming Performance
Would anybody have a clue as to why my gaming performance is so poor? I've just installed a new GTX 580 and to my surprise Crysis is incredibly laggy. Even on just high settings at 1080p there is enough stuttering and lag to make the game very unenjoyable, almost unplayable. I've attached the...
