Strange problem with ad-hoc connections

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum... Hello everyone!

I did check the tutorials (as well as many google searches) but I couldn't find a mention of this particular issue I'm having.

Basically, when I try to create a wireless ad-hoc network, when I come to the screen that asks me for the network name, the security type etc, the only way I can hit next is if I select 'no encryption'. If I try to select WEP or WPA then when I hit next nothing happens.

I've tried bypassing this by creating the network unsecured, then selecting the properties of the ad-hoc connection and changing it from there, but I encounter the same problem.

Has anyone had any experience of this before?

Many thanks,
Luke

Hi Luke, Welcome to 7 Forums.
1, cable connect your Laptop to the router.
2, create a new SSID & password.
3, enter wireless settings.
4, add to trusted connections.
5, if MAC filtering is available, USE IT.
6, disconnect from router.
7, delete old connections.
8, connect to new SSID add password, previously copied to the laptop.
