conectivity problems

I get my internet through a USB Network card and I want to share it with a router I have. I plan on sharing through windows but whenever I connect the router and try sharing it, I loose internet from my USB Network card and it's not sharing it. my computers can connect to the router and all, but I can't seem to get windows to stop cutting out every time I try internet sharing. I imagine I have an IP issue, but I am not sure, and even if it was I don't know how to change it on windows.

You should give a few more details. Are you attempting to share the single internet connection through your computer (as if your computer is the gateway) or are you planning to hook multiple computers to your router directly? If it is the first, I'd recommend finding another way, as ICS, Internet Connection Sharing, doesn't work very well. If it is the second, and it is a standard home router, you should only need to connect each computer by Cat5 ethernet cable, and you should be good to go.

Yes I want to set it up as my computer is the gateway. It goes like this

internet---3g modem--desktop--router--kids


I been trying to get this thing working for almost a year. My kids want to have internet when we go to camp, go fig right? Anyway, we got a desktop with a 3G usb modem. They all wanna connect to it so I got a small router. The router works fine you can connect to that, but I just can't get the routing of the net to go through.

Only snag I ran into with this is I can't get DHCP to work on internet sharing to local connection, is there a trick to this?

If you bridge the network it can. But when you Share the network from the USB dongle to the Local network it can't. I got a DHCP server add-on program, but I am not sure if it is working. I even went so far as to pipe static all the way to the router. But not sure how to set that up either, but I'll cross that bridge when it get it. I am assuming the router is DHCP it's self tho. But with out the local connection sending out DHCP as a server, the DHCP on the router as a client ain't working.
