    Connecting to Networks

I am trying to connect to my server which is ran through a lan connection, the server itself is running windows xp and the computer im trying to connect to it is running vista, the only thing that comes up for me is that its an unidentified network with no internet access how would i go about diagnosing this problem so i can connect to the server?

Try setting the network properties in Control Panel to Private Network. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, if it's a private network you can get unrestricted access from inside the Lan.

Try to use the already shared C:\Users\Public before trying to set individual folders. Once you have that accessible you can add the other stuff with ease.

The same article applies to W7. W7 and Vista are about the same. It's XP that's out of step now.
