    Laptop won't connect at all..

Hey guys I have been looking around for a few weeks and I can't find anything helpful on my situation. My computer won't connect to the Internet at all, wirelessly or via direct Ethernet connection. It's really bugging me as now I have a worthless machine. Can anyone help me out?

    Welcome to Windows Forums.

Have you checked in Device Manager to see whether your network adapter is wanting a driver?

As you can't connect via wireless or ethernet, it could be your wireless router that's the problem, and not your computer.

    As it's a laptop you've got, have you tried a friend's connection?

It's not my router as my iPod is connecting just fine and so are my other family members computers. There are even a multitude of open networks around my and my computer won't work on any of them. It simply tries for about thirty seconds and then just gives up and says I have limited connectivity. Even when I plug in directly it refuses to acknowledge that anything has been connected at all.

When you plug in direct too the router and nothing happens this tells me that your Ethernet adapter has been disabled and needs to be Active to get any connection. As seavixen32 said, we need your computers details to be more helpful.

Other Question, how many BARS do you see when you try to connect to the wireless?

Run up your system and do a Repair Install . You will need your original installation disc.
