    Question about UL/DL speeds

I recently ran a speedtest on my Thunderbolt and my PC.

    PC:
    UL .29kbps
    DL 1.21kbps

    TBolt
    UL 343kbps
    DL 1264kbps

Now, when I DL stuff using my PC no matter from where, my max kbps is 160. I know I'm not a pro at this, but wtf?

    ATT DSL.

Which ATT DSL service do you have? Elite, Pro, Express or Basic?

Basic. From the test, it's saying I should be getting over 1mb/s DL speed, I'm definitely not even getting half that

According to ATT, their Basic DSL is less than 1mb/s download speed.

Perhaps the test was faulty. It's my understanding that rarely will people achieve the advertised upload/download speeds because of variables like how many people are using the service at a given time, etc.

What other ISP porviders do you have in your area? It might be time for a change. If you have a cable provider in your area I would go with that. Sure, you may pay a little more for it but the speed is well worth the cost. It is for me any way.

One thing I have noticed, if you carefully read the terms, most ISP's include the following clause: "Speeds up to_____". I've seen it on several ISP's contracts and usually there's an asterisk next to it, with a explanation at the bottom of the page saying speeds may vary due to numerous conditions & they do not guarantee full promised speeds all the time.

But yeah, it does seem a bit slow. Try hopping on late some night/very early morning and see if the speeds increase. If they don't, it might be worth a call to tech support.
