Red X on Task Bar but No Actual Problem

Hi,

I'm running Windows 7. My wireless connection goes through a netgear adapter. the adapter says I'm connected, and I AM connected, obviously. However, the connection icon in my taskbar has the red x of death on it. When I troubleshoot, it tells me there's nothing to troubleshoot. Duh.

My problem is: Why won't the red X go away now? I have rebooted already. Thank you for your help.

Have you tried switching off and then switching on your wireless connection? Also: sometimes shutting down the computer completely and then starting it up again helps.

Hi jprahn01

You might try some of the suggestions posted here for someone with the same issue see if that helps - network icon x in the taskbar
