I've always heard that I should never use the administrator account exclusively. But I just got used to using this account over the years. Now I believe the account has become corrupted. Should I just delete this account and create a new account but make it 'standard user?'

If you delete the only admin account you wont be able to do admin (elevated) activities. There is a built in hidden admin account, are you using that one, or the one you created when installing win 7?

I believe I am using the default admin one when I installed windows. How could I check to see if I am using the 'hidden' one or not?

Administrator would be the hidden Administrator account you can only access via Safe Mode so it's highly unlikely that is what you were using. Most likely you were using an administrator level account you created during Win 7 install.

To enable the hidden Administrator account, open a Command Prompt and enter net user administrator /active:yes

Now restart the computer. Press F8 during boot and chose Safe Mode from the Advanced Boot Menu Options menu.

What accounts show up in the loon window? You should see your normal account, Guest (disabled) and Administrator.

Oh Okay. Great. I will back up the files on that "install admin" account and then delete it. create a new one and see how that does...

Thanks a lot.
