Windows 7 and Lion OS File Sharing Problem

Has anyone been able to get file sharing to work BOTH WAYS between a Windows 7 system and a Mac system running the new Lion OS?

Everything worked fine for me prior to my recent upgrade from the Snow Leopard OS to the Lion OS. After the upgrade, I am able to see my Win 7 Shared Folders on my Mac, but cannot see my Mac Shared Folders on my Win 7 system. Before the upgrade, I could go to explorer, expand the Network item in the left hand pane, and see my Mac listed. Now it is no longer listed. I've tried using the Run command and entering the ip address and path to my shared Mac folder. Doesn't work. I've tried using the Network diagnostic in Win 7 and it apparently detects the Mac but cannot connect. In fact, I've tried everything I can think of or have found on the web. Still no luck.

If anyone has been successful in sharing both ways, in particular seeing the Mac shares on the Win 7 system, can you tell me how you accomplished it, settings you used, etc.

I've no solution dude, but I am having the exact same problem and it is driving me nuts. Mac can see both my Windows 7 PC, and my Windows XP laptop, but neither can see the Mac. Worked fine before upgrade.

I did notice that Lion reset the workgroup to "WORKGROUP", and I had a second of thinking I had solved it, only I changed Lion to my actual workgroup name and still nothing.

All of my media is on my Mac, and I stream it through my PC to the telly, so this is really pissing me off! If I find a solution I'll post it here. If anyone else has any ideas I'd really appreciate them, as I am properly stuck.

If I find a solution, I'll post it here as well. I've posted this question on several Mac and Apple forums. I've seen where some folks HAVE been able to get sharing working both ways, but they have not responded with any specifics on how exactly they did it. So far, I've tried every suggestion I could find by doing a general web search.

No problem here seeing my Mac shared folders. I didn't change anything on my iMac or my PC. Originally I opened Network on my PC, found my iMac and created a shortcut. It still works after the upgrade to Lion so I'm left wondering what about your configurations are different.

If you go to System Preferences/Sharing on the iMac if File Sharing is checked you should have no problems.

I'm sure I shouldn't, but I certainly do! File sharing is checked, individual folders have been added, AFP and SMB boxes are checked.

In network under advanced I have changed the name of the workgroup to match my workgroup name (HOME). I notice that the WINS server box below is blank. Could you check yours and see if there is anything in it?

Really annoying. I had a pretty new Mac (less than two weeks old) before upgrading to Lion, so I can't for the life of me work out why this has happened. Can still access and play and media from the PCs on the Mac, but the Mac remains invisible.

Have tried pointing the PC straight to the Mac IP address but it just says it can't find it. Have gone through frustration, to anger, to despondency, to considering going back to Snow Leopard, to meh. I can see from various forums that this has affected a lot of people, so it is clearly something with Lion, but I can't work out what.

I wish I knew what was different in our two setups since i cannot see my Mac shares no matter what I try.

Yes, I tried that. Even unshaded everything from my Mac and started again following the steps. At step 9, where you tell your PC to go to the Mac's IP address, it just comes up with an error message that it can't find any such address.

Under Advanced I have the NetBios Name and Workgroup with nothing in WINS Servers. I am connecting through Airport on the iMac and direct cable on the PC. Both computers are password protected which I understand is mandatory.

Yes, I've tried what was outlined in that post as well. However, in Step #6 where you are supposed to enter a password, I get an "Incorrect Password" message. I'm absolutely certain I typed in the correct password since I've repeated that same step at least a dozen times even typing one character at a time verrrrry slowly and making sure that I abide by case sensitivity rules.

I've been checking daily the Mac forums where I've posted this same question and so far no answer. Being a long time Windows user, I thought sure that some of my fellow Windows gurus would have a solution by now. Maybe it's a bug in the new Lion OS and simply can't be solved until Apple does a Lion update. I have already posted a report to Apple regarding this problem.
