other computers can't see me but i can see them

So, I hooked up my computer to a personal lan in our house. I can detect two xboxes, 2 windows computers, and a fedora system. However, they can not see me.

Initially I thought it was something in the router; however, I went to a friends house and tried connecting with the same results (different router with default settings (i reset it)).

    Random facts:
    Using windows 7 ultimatex64
I can ping the other computers.
I set us up in the same homegroup (using the password and all).
I disable my firewall (norton) when attempting these connections. (obviously windows firewall is disabled/routed through norton)

I have also tried loosening all the security settings for file sharing and such that I could find (not permanently obv.)

--this is where im not too sure about--
I am pretty sure we're in the same subnet. I use "Obtain ip address automatically" with dhcp enabled on my router. I'm pretty sure this means we're on the same subnet? anyway, here is a screenshot of our stuff
    http://www.citeforme.com/screenshot.png

I notice that one subnet is 255.255.255.0
and the other is for 255.255.252.0 <---this one is for the modem to our router I believe (64 subnets each with 2 hosts? I could be wrong, i'm still new to subnetting)

I can provide any additional screen shots or setting values that you need.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Please help.
