First off, I'm new to working as an IT Admin's assistant. Slowly but surely learning more and more as the days go by, but recently I was tasked with setting up Roaming Profiles for some of our users as we are going to be utilizing Hot-seating temporarily until we move into a bigger location.
So I have been following every single guide I could find, every single Thread/blog discussion the issues/fixes. Even read a couple of the big ones on this site. But for some reason no matter what I do, I can't get seem to get it functioning properly.
So let me layout how I have this setup:
AD > User > ProfilePath: \\SharedServer\Profiles\User
GPO > Folder Redirection > Documents: \\SharedSever\Profiles$ (Which automatically appends the \user\documents directories)
Now as far as I can tell.. that is ALL that really needs to be done correct? I've ran GPupdate /force on both my SharedServer, my AD server and the Laptop that I am using to test this.
Now the only thing that is somewhat out of the ordinary, is my IT Admin, for testing purposes so I wouldn't blow anything up, made a new GPO that only has this 1 user assigned to it, so it wouldn't effect anyone else on the server from their day-to-day activities. Which is what I'm thinking may be causing an issue somewhere.
The real issue is, it keeps logging this user on with a Temp Profile. I've tried the Registry fix, but there is no ProfilePathImage for this user on the laptop I am using to test this user. So there was nothing to delete. (I essentially followed this
Group Policy Center ) Also deleted the user manually per that guide as well, also with no success.
Another thing it's not grabbing properly is the AppData/Roaming it would appear. As I can't get Email settings to stick from one PC to the Next, but I'm thinking that may be due to one PC having Outlook 2003 and the other 2007-2010.
Searched this site for a couple of hours looking for anything different from what I've been finding elsewhere and just striking out constantly. So I'm out of steam on this one and could use all the help possible as I'm clearly just clueless. Thanks again!
