    Hotspot wireless connection

Any way to speed up how fast Windows 7 home premium connects to my hotspot?
Seems to take forever every time I connect. The blue circle just rotates for a couple minutes then it connects. What's the delay?

How far away are you from you Hotspot. My kids computer takes a little while not 2 minutes but 30 seconds or so just because it's a laptop that runs win 7 a little slower than normal and thats the reason for it connecting slowly. Does everything else on the computer seem to start up fast?

Which of these are you using for wireless:

    802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n

Not counting boot up, everything seems to start up faster. I'm using 802.11n and WPA2

Well you have a fast connecting router I would try a scan with malwarebytes to see if your infected with any type of malware Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download and also clean up the system with CCleaner CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download but make sure you have a system restore point or a good backup just in case something goes wrong. I doubt it would but has been known to happen and see if that helps the issue.

Please post back with the results of your malware scan and well go from there, hopefully something is found by it and is removed.

    Thanks

I don't think that is it. I have Microsoft security essentials, Run Spybot search and destroy and Advance spyware remover all the time. I regularly wipe my cookies, history and caches. It acts to me like there are built in delays in the connection software. I hope Windows 8 addresses this.

I don't believe that there are built in delays cause all my computers connect fast have you updated the drivers for your networking adapter and or updated the firmware to your router? Also what is the full model of your hp compaq ie: Compaq Presario CQ50-100CA Notebook PC

Also did this always happen or has it occurred recently with the connection?

Also I would check msconfig to see how many programs are starting up this could very much influence how fast your connection starts.

It's a CQ50-215NR with an Athros 5007 wifi card. I'm connecting to an Android 2.2.1 smart phone hot spot. I connect several times a day since when I leave I take the phone with me and only need it when I want to run the notebook. I know it's an old notebook, maybe when I get my new tablet pc it will connect faster.

It was the phone. After an Android upgrade it connects immediately.
