It has happened again. It isn't a huge issue because I don't have internet connection problems (I thought I did because the router needed resetting) but the diagnostic policy will not start AGAIN.

This is crazy.

Also, I was formatting a USB flash drive and somehow my USB Portable hard drive got f-ed up too! The file system is corrupted, maybe because I was trying to set up a bootable usb flash drive and the dos parts needed by HP drive key were on the portable hard drive, so it was trying to access at the time. HP drive key said the USB flash drive was inaccessible and it all went pear shaped from then on.

I hate computers! lol

Wow, It sure is!

I am running out of ideas.

Not sure if this will help or not.
Did you ever run that Disk Check or not?

If you have not, run it before you do another re-install with full format.

Apologies for not getting back sooner, Hurricane Irene paid a visit and I have been a little busy.

I did run it yea.....

I can't even blame BitDefender now, cos I am running Avast. I have re-tried the things I tried last time plus I also uninstalled the driver Windows assigned to my wireless network adaptor and installed the driver from the manufacturers site - just in case.

I am just gonna leave it now, everything else is fine and I can live without it anyway I think? It would be nice to have but....

I am glad you are OK, was it bad by you then?

Me neither! lol

That is why I thought it might be hardware or windows update related, but rolling back the driver, uninstalling the driver and letting it install again, and installing the driver downloaded from the manufacturers site all did not work.
