Base Filtering Engine - Odd problem
This subject matter is root of all evil. We are starting to run into random issues where as some Windows 7 machines are discover-able but not pingable, sounds odd right? Well we have it set that Windows Firewall is disabled by default so we rule that out as possibility as to why. The other factor we thought is some are using Direct Access and others don't but we haven't really seen any difference in this case. We also disabled various network adapters, WiFi, Gobi, etc and made sure we have LAN only with DHCP configuration. SO, story goes like this, if you are on a box, you can access sources on the network, but when you are not pingable from admins, then they can't help you with your issues because they can't get on your machine. SO we can't RDP, VNC or do anything without a resolvable IP address, thus, we have to turn off and disable BFE in order to get a response. Once that task is preformed, machine is back to normal life but that seems to offer a band aid solution fix to a partial problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciative.
