    route add

    Hello all.

    printer IP: 10.30.50.131
    computer IP: 192.168.21.2

on same physical switch, not segmented or vlan'd.

If I want to connect to the printer, shouldn't
    Code:
    route add 10.30.50.131 192.168.21.2
get me to the printer? It isn't?

    TIA JHS

Hi Sandsjh. and welcome to the forums!

Is there a reason why your not using GUI to connect/setup your printer?
    What are your system specs?

I am testing a software based firewall (e.g. IPCop, Astaro, Untangle, etc) and when I get tired of it, I bypass it and rung

    Code:
netsh interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" static 192.168.21.2 255.255.255.0 192.168.21.1 1
and all other devices are wifi so I just toggle wifi and it gets the 192 address.

I don't want to login to the printer gui everytime I get mad at the firewall. Trust me, their "upgrade" was not an "upgrade", it was a, "we broke everything to get support money".
