    Windows 7 Sharing Problem

    Hello,

I have two windows 7 computers connected over a wireless network using a Linksys WRT 400N router. I have a laptop and desktop computer. Both have been using file sharoing and printer sharing for over a year now. I have set both computers up as part of Workgroup. In advanced sharing i have turned on network discover, file and printer sharing. I have shut of Ipv6. My system has worked for the longest time however recently i have had this problem....

My laptop can not connect to my desktop by using the desktops name or icon in networks. however my desktop can connect to my laptop. However when i type in the desktops ip address in RUN it connects. It only does not connect when i try using the desktops name. I have flushed my dns, registered my dns to no avail. Not sure what else to do! Please help.....

Hi black04rex, welcome to Seven Forums.
Both pc's must have:- same workgroup name, a password, (which can be set to log on without it)

    To configure Automatic log on

-click Start and type netplwiz in the Search Box and then press Enter.

-click Continue when the User Account Control window appears.

-from the window that appears, verify that the account you want to log on with is selected. Clear the Users must enter a username and password to use this computer option and click OK.

-enter the password for the user account twice, ok your way out, your computer will automatically log on with that user account.

This will also help. Attachment 172676
