Last thing to ask, is are there any motherboard drivers that you have not installed, a long shot but some MBs have issues with specific drivers, sound, network, video, etc, if the system drivers are not in place - I'm sure you've already checked on the manufacturer's site, but there may be something missed

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I did not miss any drivers, going for one last complete re-install to be sure, but first I'm going to install ubuntu to see if it works there.

I have the live stick version of Ubuntu 11.04 and that picks up the network out of the box, may be an option ( or burn live CD) save total re-install

Anyway, I tried that, still didn't work. Same problem.

Hmm...a few suggestions and none worked.

Have you tried Manual IP or Static IP config?

Hmm, can I do that seeing as I don't have a router, only a gateway? As you can see from my ipconfig, my IP adress is not in the 192.168 range

You may use this and just manually assign it. BTW....Have you compared your ipconfig /all from the other computers in your Home network? See if yours match with the rest.

The default gateway in the IP config simply refers to the network device that routes network packets from the local network to and from the internet or other network. this function is generally fulfilled by a router

In this case your Gateway/Modem is acting as a router as it connects the four LAN ports to the single wan port, (Internet), the problem with this type of "gateway" from the ISP is that you are rarely given access to the internal settings as you are with a wireless router, which means the settings are not flexible.

One test that could be interesting is to note the IP address and other settings of the working win7 PC, switch off this PC and then manually enter these same settings into the non working PC, and see if the connectivity to the internet is working.
