    internet disconects and is slow.

hi guys, i did a clean install of windows 7 due to reg problems at the start of this year.
before that the wifi went fine it did not disconnect of me and windows was not saying that it can find the network.

so the problem is that when i am in my room it runs very slow at times and disconnects and windows says there is no wifi but if i move outside my door it finds it and connects i find this odd since windows says it a good connection almost full bars and speed running at 54(the top speed) and 48 it the connection speed and signal drop down low at times (but only in my room no where else) any ideas?

Two of the most frequent causes of poor Internet performance are spyware and viruses. Spyware can slow your system by interfering with your browser and monopolizing your Internet connection. Spyware monitors your Internet use and keystrokes, which adds delays. The problem is compounded when there are multiple spyware programs running at the same time. If the problem is severe enough, you can lose connectivity altogether. To get your Internet performance back, you should regularly run an antispyware program to clean out any spyware infestation.

    Broadcom Wireless Slow Problem Solved

I decided to post here even though it was an old thread. I suspect there will be others that needs this tip. I had the same issue and was trying to figure out the cause. had tried everything else, removing homegroup networking, unistalling drivers, updating drivers, you name it and found no working solution as of the date of this post.

My wired connection using this same laptop was blazing fast, but the wireless connected with speeds similar to dialup. I finally decided to disable my router security which was initially set as WPA-PSK to see if it made a difference. All my other laptops and PC's worked with this authentication so I initially didn't think it would help. But guess what, as soon as I disabled the router security it was blazing fast. Apparently the Broadcom 802.11n wireless modem in my ACER laptop doesn't support WPA-PSK very well. I changed my router to WPA2-PSK, which is more secure by the way, and it likes it. I'm having to more problems with slow wireless on this particular wireless card. I suspect it will work for you too. Good luck.
