Internet Connection -- Lost and requires hard shut down

Every once in a while, my laptop loses connectivity and cannot be reconnected to the wireless signal unless I turn the computer off and restart.
What the heck is going on???

Fill out your system specs so we know what kind of computer and hardware you are using.

Does this happen on every wireless network you use, or just one in particular?

    Hello,

Are you using a 3rd party utility to wireless connect?

Do you have the latest driver for your Wireless network adapter?

    Pls give us an update.

It happens on all wireless networks.
I apologize, I am a Mac guy usually and not a very competent computer guy.

    Gateway LT31
AMD Athlon (tm) X2 Dual Core Processor L310 1.20 GHz
    2.00 GB (1.75 GB usable)
    64-bit Operating System
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium

Does any of this help? Thanks!

Are you using a 3rd party utility to wireless connect?
    - I'm not sure what this means.

Do you have the latest driver for your Wireless network adapter?
    - I'm not sure if I do or not. Is there an easy way to diagnose?

    Thanks!

Usually it's a software that came with your Gateway or Wi-Fi device. If you are using this and your built-in Windows WLAN Auto config is enabled, it will conflict.

Post an ipconfig /all of the computer in question for review and we're able to determine what type of Wi-Fi adapter you have installed.
Click on Start => in run or search box type cmd press enter (run as Admin for Vista and 7). From the black screen, type the word ipconfig /all and press enter. Right click on the black screen or Command prompt then choose Select All and Paste the results onto your Post.

I'm not able to select all and copy. I get an upward facing arrow and a "A" when I hit "Ctrl A" and the right click allows all options, with the "Copy" option in grey type ... not able to be selected.

    Hi,

Pls. re-read my instruction again: Right click on the black screen or Command prompt then choose Select All and Paste the results onto your Post.

The copy is greyed out bec there's no use for it . You'll have to choose Select All, then next time that you Post here on your Thread, right click the box and choose Paste, the ipconfig /all output should be posted.
