fyi - in a cmd prompt I executed a 'ping' and a 'tracert' on the site, with and w/o PROXY, and the same IP address values were returned, fwiw.

From your own machine yes, you will show that Internal network IP with Ping and Tracert... but the grc web based utility will show you the outbound ip. Try it with and without the proxy running... you should see a difference.

The results of netbench should be entered into your router... are you familiar with its interface? If not report back with model and make and we can assist...

I cliked on the provided link ...

    IE w/o proxy :

Your Internet connection's IP address is uniquely associated with the following "machine name":
    96-41-62-219.dhcp.mtpk.ca.charter.com

    IE w/proxy :

Your Internet connection has no Reverse DNS

Followed the guide as best as I could understand and put in the IP address from the web page that the program produced when it finished. All went as per the provided instructions, no errors or warnings. The router page said the new numbers were accepted and I followed the guide's advice to delete history and flush dns. Unfortunately, no joy as far as connecting to Crosstown w/o proxy. The site's admin replied he will contact his tech and get back to me. He replied thus : "I'l ask ___ to check it out we do have a firewall now and may be blocking u for some reason."

Thnx for staying w/me thus far Darryl.

Just in case, try changing the DNS servers on your router to the ones suggested by running namebench... it actually sped up my Intenet substantially! See if that gets you around the issue with crosstown.
