I think this time 2xg was talking about the connections not the adaptors, (see his first link) and I do believe under the connection properties somewhere there is a list of preferred networks and an option to connect to preferred connections automaticly.

I tried both suggestions and these are the results.

When I try to delete a network on the 'basic network information' page using a right click on the networks name, nothing happens, a left click give me the connection status.

When I go to Manage wireless networks, there are no networks listed to remove, even though I am connected to one. Then when I try to add a network, I enter all the correct info (I did this for both networks available) I get a box stating "Access is denied".

Fortunately I can get connected by going to the systray and connecting to a network. If I could not do that, I could not send and receive these messages.

Do you have any other ideas?

Dreamhunter, I waited to see if others could give a successful answer to your problem as I had similar recently. Here's what I did.
First, connect your wireless pc to the router with a cable, change the SSID & Password, making sure the encryption type is compatible for your adapter. Power off the pc, power off the router, wait 1 minute and restart it, waiting till all lights show connected then restart your pc, enter new password. Now if it works, old connections can be trashed.

If you had a stable connection thru another Wi-Fi location, the issue might be coming from your own wireless network. Can be interference...... Try changing the wireless channel to either 1, 6 or 11 from your router. See which one you can get a steady connection.

Also, updating the router's firmware to the latest will be a great idea. You may download it from the manufacturer's site. Use a wired connection to install the firmware.

Roderunner, I can not connect a cable as the WI-FI antenna is several hundred feet from me.

2xg, I can not change the channels as the WI-FI router does not belong to me.

I am connecting with a Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter model WMP54G that is plugged into my motherboard. I have an external antenna to give me greater range.

This adapter worked great with XP SP3, but when I reformatted my hard drive to do a clean install of Win7, I started having this problem so I am sure it is Win7 caused.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Are you using a third party software to connect or Windows built in software?

Could be a conflict. If using thirdparty software disable it and use Windows. And then try the other way around.

I was going to add in my previous post asking if you own the router, I was too late.

Anyway, let's see if there's really a signal issue, perhaps we can recommend some high-gain device.
Install and run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector.
Click on the 'Show Networks' to display all wireless networks on the xirrus icon on your desktop if you have one running in a corner. Tap the Printscreen key on your keyboard, open up Paint then choose Edit from the Menu and select Paste, then SAVE it. Upload and attached it here.

2xg, I know it is not a signal strength problem as I have the same problem with my own in-RV router that is 10 feet from the PC, but I am not using it for internet connection any more, just in-RV connection to other PCs when needed. The campground signal shows all bars lighted.

In answer to aem, I am using Windows 7 software, not any third party.

Can be an interference? Can you please post the Xirrus snap shot, so that we'll find out.

Connect router wirelessly to main router
Recently I bought a TP-Link WR841N router and, unaware of what it needed, there had to be an ethernet cable coming from the main router (BT Homehub 3) for it to work. Is there any way I can connect these two wirelessly? I don't mind whatever way I connect it to my PC.
