Will not connect automatically to router

I am using Win7 Ultimate and can not connect to my router automatically. I can connect manually after I enter the network security key.

I click to 'connect automatically', but Win7 does not remember.

    Sure would like some suggestions.

Hi Dreamhunter, welcome to Seven Forums.
    Try this:-
    -
Step 1. Close all applications that use the network — browsers, e-mail, chat, video, weather, and any other app
that might be automatically updated in the background.
Step 2. Click Start, type device manager in the Search box, then press Enter.
Step 3. Browse to the list of devices and click to expand the Network adapters section.
Step 4. Right-click on the first adapter under Network adapters and click Uninstall. Windows will ask whether you
want to remove the associated device drivers; say no, you want to keep the device driver. Repeat for all network
adapters on your system under Network adapters.
    Step 5. Close Device Manager.
    Step 6. Reboot.
When you reboot, Windows will think it’s found new networking hardware and will set up fresh connections. By
the end of the reboot, your Network should be back and running in streamlined, trouble-free form.

Sorry for the delay in replying, but I was on the road without my PC for a couple of days.

I uninstalled the PCI network adapters before I left and when I returned this morning, I started the PC and both Adapters were reinstalled automatically without any input from me.

I still have to 'view available networks' and then connect each time with the security code.

    Any more suggestions?

I am now in a location with another WI-FI connection and I have the same problem with both.

Also have another strange problem in that my WIN 7 machine just disconnects from the network without any warning.

I can stay connected all day through my cell phone, but when I use the network system in the WIN 7 program, I have the problem.

    Help!!

If this is a wired connection, make sure router is as per your ISP's specs, especially the MTU.

I would find the latest driver for your network adapter from the manufacturer's site.

Also, restart your computer, tap F8 and select Safe Mode with Networking. See if you're able to replicate your issue here.

Another update of your progress will be nice.

Both of these connections are wireless.

Today, I have been able to stay connected for several hours through the camp grounds wireless system.

One of the wireless connections is to an RV camp ground and the other is to the router in my motorhome.

I am only connected to one or the other. My router is for my in house wireless between PCs.

Next time that you attempt to connect to your own SSID again, pls. try removing all the wireless network profiles in your computer, then try to reconnect again to your wireless network with the correct network key typed in.

A tutorial on how to remove wireless networks:

I installed the latest drivers last night.

Then, I have uninstalled the wireless networks with device manager, restarted the computer and the network adapter reinstalled automatically. When I connected to the wireless network, i checked 'connect automatically'.

The next rime I started the computer, the network was NOT connected.

I even started in safe mode, connected to the network and checked 'connect automatically'. Then restarted in normal mode and the network was not connected.

I guess I am going to have to live with it as I have some other tings to do.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
