    Computer not visible on network

We have two computers one desktop windows 7 64bit LAN connection to router. One laptop windows 7 32bit, wireless connection to router. Both can access the internet, desktop can see both computers on network map and on < Computer – Network> link. Laptop can see desktop on network map, but not on < Computer – Network > link so cannot access desktop. Desktop can ping laptop, Laptop get timeout when tries to ping Desktop. Have tried network trouble shooting, but either get cannot find problem or firewall problem. We have Norton 360 on both machines, we have switched all firewalls off and still the network is not working. This network has been working.. I do hope that you can understand this. Any suggestions would be appreciated

    Hi fenfolk,

Failure to ping usually is a Firewall blocking. Usually you can completely Disable all Norton Services running (click on Start and type Services) or try to uninstall it completely might help then reinstall after you have resolve the issue.

You are a star - we are definately closer. Uninstalled Norton and could access the desktop from the laptop, brill. Naot all folders that are set to share are accible and homegroup not right but definately progress. Thank you will try to sort out the access problems before we put Norton back. Thank you so much
