2wire 2701hgv-w. Perhaps the best option is a new router?

Ahh I was looking for one of these the other day with no luck! 2-Wire have very poor support on their products from what I have seen.

I would suggest a new router yes. If its just a standard ADSL connection then NetGear have always been relicable in my opinion.

Would it be wiser for me to use a D Link router considering that's the brand of my adapter? Or does it really not matter? And what type of router should I be looking for?

It shouldn't really matter as the routers will use the same encryption. However, if you are happier getting a D-Link router then go for it.

It maybe worth asking your provider for a recommended router. You need to find out if you're on ADSL/ADSL2+. They will be able to tell you what kind of router you need. I wouldn't buy it off them though as they can sometimes rip you off! If they recommend a 2-wire then hang up lol.

Just realised that it's not just the wireless computer, it's all of them. Even the machine connected to the router directly.

A new router is a good idea, you may also try a reset to the factory default setting then reconfigure all from scratch. Do print screens of the router settings prior to the reset.

The settings are exactly the same as they were before I moved house. I honestly don't think it's anything to do with the settings because even the computer that's wired is slow as all hell.

As per zxg's post, try resetting the router.

If this fails, try as different router.
