Windows 7: fast wifi / slow LAN connection

i have wimax internet 512Kbps connection at home, which is connected to Linksys wifi router. the wifi router has 4 LAN ports. my dell laptop uses the net through Linksys wifi connection.

and my p3 700Mhz computer is connected to linksys router through a LAN cable (old compaq NIC card) which is connected to wifi router LAN port.

the net speed is quite fast for the laptop and slow for the p3 computer.

pls tell me the cause of slow internet on p3



is it old NIC on p3 which is causing the slow speed, the wifi router LAN port or the old p3 computer..............

the p3 is used mainly by kids/wife

Could you be a bit more specific as to the speeds involved with the old machine

My guess would be the ancient P3 computer. It will render web pages and online content much much slower than a current system. A P3 is quite dated.

That is another thought, it barely meets the requirements to use a modern web browser.

That should not even equate to a noticeable difference.
For comparison here's mine.

Mine comes out to around 4megabytes/second
Your highest one would come to about 79.36 kilobytes/second
and the slower would be 66.56 kilobytes/second
I could attribute that minor a difference to the different connection type and the speed/age differences of the two computers involved.
When that p3 was new 66 kilobyte/second internet was practically unheard of.

Keep in mind these tests all measure in bits, not bytes and there is a huge difference between the two.
