ASUS Repeater can not link to internet, but home network okay
Hi. I have an ASUS WL-330gE which can serve as a WAP, gateway, ethernet adapter and repeater. I use it as a repeater to gain greater coverage in my home. While my iPhone can link on to the repeater to access internet and home network (with some help resetting the phone's wifi), the two laptops that I have can link on to the repeater for home network, but not for internet. I can access files from other computers on the network, but not to websites. Once the repeater is off, I can access the web through my wireless router (if close enough). If I move closer to the wireless router with the repeater on, the repeater will not hand off the computer to the router which may have a stronger signal. I would have to disconnect and reconnect again before the router takes over.
I have followed simple instructions on setup and the software that comes with the device shows that the repeater has the same SSID address. I have restored and reprogrammed the device without any success. I have switched channels on my router without success. Since I am able to connect with my phone, I can't help but think that it may be something to do with the laptop settings. Unfortunately, I have very limited understanding about networking. I read a suggestion to turn off IPv6 which I had no idea how to do, but from posts that are similar to this post, that had not helped.
Can someone direct me to a solution to this problem? Thanks.
