Cannot Connect to win7 x64 VPN from vista home premium x86 error 800

I have set up a VPN in windows 7 and from my computer i am able to connect to it. I also tried connecting on a virtual machine and it connected fine(the virtual machine is Win7 as well)

I have already opened ports in my router and both computers connect to the internet on the same connection.

I also enabled ports on the firewall but with no success, i also disabled the firewall on both machines.

the credentials im using are correct also as well as the name and i get the common 800 error

    Hello,

Have you created the VPN via your router?

Is the Vista PC on another IP Range?

The VPN was created with the win7 VPN. Although i have allowed ports via the router. Both computers are on the same ip range, although i did create a static IP with port forward so im not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Generally if u wanted to access the VPN from another location the IPs could be on a different range?

Yes thats correct. You cant have two sides of a VPN on the same IP range. It would cause routing issues and wouldnt know which side of the VPN to send packets. In addition to that there would be the possibility of IP conflicts.

Change the range at one end and it should be fine.
