Hard Reset a Toshiba Windows 7 and keep curent OS

    Hi all,

I would like to hard reset my Toshiba Satellite because none of my programs (Except Safari) can't connect to the internet.

The fact is that I bought this Toshiba under Windows Vista and I would like to keep Windows 7 (that I bought directly online)

So can I keep Windows 7? And how can I reset this PC properly?

    Thanks for helping me!

As long as you have the key for Windows 7 you should be fine. You could do an upgrade installation on top of Windows 7. However I do not recomend this. You still need to know your Windows 7 Key to do this.

I would Reinstall Vista and then Reinstall Windows 7.

Thanks for your quick reply. I found the 25 character key for my Windows 7 license in a mail message from Microsoft. Does this mean that I will need to first do a reset to re-install Vista and then re-download Windows 7? Or does the Windows 7 download lie somewhere on my disk?

And how does one do a system reset? Is it rebooting with the 0 key pressed etc.?

You need to place the Vista DVD into your computer and boot using that disk then just ren the installer from there. Then you will need to re download Windows 7.
