    Home Networking Reset Password

    Hello Everyone,
I have a home network established with my wife’s laptop and my desktop, but for some reason, I cannot remember my password when I try to access my wife’s laptop. How can I reset the password?

If its asking for a user name and password, just enter a valid user name and password for a user account on the PC you're trying to access. If its a Homegroup password you need to figure out what that is or change it. If you click the HomeGroup icon in control panel you should see a "View or print homegroup password option. Do it on the laptop and then enter it on the other PC when prompted.

    Homegroup Network

I followed your suggestions and I found the password on my wife’s laptop, but when I use the password on my computer I get “Logon failure unknown user name or password.” When I click on LYNN-PC the login screen showsmy correct user name, but the password does not work. Any other suggestions?

If you don't have a user account on the other PC your user name and password won't work. If it's the password screen I think it is, it is the other PC, the one you are trying to connect to, that is asking for a password. In that case it has to be a user name and password for a user account on the target PC. Are you using Homegroup? If not how did you setup your shared folders?

Yes, I am using homegroup. Is it possible to eliminate the homegroup from my laptop and re-establish a new homegroup, or can I re-set the password on the laptop? The laptop is what I am trying to access from my desk top.
