Whats the best wireless usb adapter?

    sorry, i misread your post, both pc and router are in basement and you want wifi on second floor.

    in that case stick the extender on the first floor, so it will still be in range of the router.

    Yes sir my desktop and router are in the basement. I have laptop at the 2nd floor but the wireless signal is poor and im wondering where should i put the wireless expander incase i bought one?

    I got a free router from virgin ,n speed,there was also a usb thing in the box which i beleive is a wireless dongle.it very good!

    Why do you need an extender when your PC is at the same place as the router. An extender is there to amplify the WiFi signal for a PC that is too far away from the router to üick up the signal.

    And what type of router are we talking about anyhow. A "g" router or a "N" router.

    halfway in between, on the first floor were the signal is still strong enough from the router.

    Im not referring to my desktop.. I do have laptop at 2nd floor and thats what im asking about wireless signal..

    Look at the box it came in. Else type 192.168.11 into the IE address bar and hit enter. That should bring up your router. User name is "admin", password is "password"

    If 11 as last digits does not work, try 1.1. or 0.1.
